Weekend for Delhites is rather a special time. After five crushing hard days at office, an outing is almost mandatory. And when you’re in that mood of travel and exploration, there are plenty of destinations of all kinds and places. From the towering Himalayas, the exotic Tiger reserves, the desert dunes, nature park, archaeological sites, important pilgrimage sites – everywhere you look and you’ll find an exotic destination.

Places near Delhi NCR
There is far too much in and around NCR region to explore. Surrounded by mountain states like Uttarakhand and Himachal Pradesh, the desert landscapes of Rajasthan and Gujarat, and home to ancient Saptsindhu civilisations in Haryana – there is plenty hidden for real travel bugs.
In a nutshell, you can head out in all four directions out of NCR. Here are some really exotic and mesmerizing destinations nearby to you.

Rajasthan
Neemrana Fort and the town itself is a must-visit destination as it is just 2-3 hours away from NCR. The place has plenty of stuff going on. Besides exploring the ancient heritage, there are adventure activities like zip-line, placid lakes for walks & birding, and luxury stays in some of the best heritage properties.

Sariska Tiger Reserve gives you an out-and-out wildlife adventure with possibilities to spot Tigers and a myriad of wildlife.

In Rajasthan, you have some other splendid (quick to reach) places like Bharatpur, Deeg, Pushkar, Mandwa, and Ranthambore. So a plenty to choose from.

Haryana
Archaeological sites of Rakhigarhi and Bhirana are some of the most curious places to explore in Haryana. Here, Indian heritage dating back 9000 years can be explored here. Try some local Haryanvi cuisines too to feel the pulse of Haryana.

Sultanpur National Park and Bird Sanctuary is barely hour away from Gurugram. It is ideal for wildlife spotting and taking out your kids for nature tour. There are many hotels in the vicinity to spend a night out as well. So it is well sorted.

Places like Kurukshetra are also some top destinations, especially for Indian pilgrims. There is a lot to explore in Haryana besides big cities like Gurugram (for its luxurious lifestyle), Panipat, Karnal, and more.

Uttarakhand
A four hour drive from Delhi or Noida leads you to the mountains of Uttarakhand. And there are so many places to explore in this beautiful hill state.

Haridwar and Rishikesh can both done done in one go. Just 210 km away may take you 4 hours to reach. These holy cities nestled between green forests are ideal places to witness Ganges and take holy dips. Adventure sports in Rishikesh like Rafting and Bungee Jumping are highly recommended.

Mussoorie is also easily accessible for weekenders. The lush green spaces, chill in the air, and views of snowclad mountains makes this place a must go destination.

Jim Corbett National Park and Tiger Reserve is ideal for Tiger lovers. Perfect for those who want to enjoy green forests and silence.

Besides these places it is very easy to reach Nainital, Mukteshwar, Tehri Lake, Chakrata, etc. if you want to explore Uttarakhand in its full perspective.

Himachal Pradesh

Manali is a must go place for a weekend out of NCR. Yes, it takes 10-12 hours to reach, but once here you can immerse in a cold and clean climate. Chill around the market, grab a coffee, etc. You can easily visit the Atal Tunnel from here by doing a day tour of nearby places.

Dharamshala and Mcleodganj are slightly far from Delhi, but if you plan well then it is an ideal place to explore mountains. It is home to the Dalai Lama and have a cricket stadium with immense beauty.

For closer options you can visit Nahan, Shimla, Narkanda, and many other placid & quiet destinations of HP.

Uttar Pradesh
Taj Mahal has to be seen no matter where you are. Millions does that every year. If you’re in NCR, the Expressway would take you to Agra Taj Mahal which is just a three hour drive. Nearby places like Agra Fort, Fatehpur Sikri should also be on your list.

Vrindavan is the birthplace of Lord Krishna. It drives a large number of tourists from across the world making it an ideal hotspot to explore the essence of India. It is hardly 4-5 hours from NCR.

Don’t think, just go
So any upcoming weekend could be your chance to unearth places, destinations and life itself. Don’t think much. You can do things in low budget. Grab a bus or a cab. Pack little. But if curiosity makes you think of places, you must go.
